An airport in Florida has been praised for remaining quiet in the run up to one of the busiest travelling days on the US calendar, the Thanksgiving holiday.

According to local website News-Press, the Southwest Florida International Airport was "devoid of holiday hustle" yesterday (November 25th), despite the fact that the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is "usually one of the busiest travel days of the year".

Such news could be of interest to those who own property in Florida and are planning on heading to the state during the festive period.

The website noted that visitors to the airport yesterday were able to benefit from both short queues for amenities and services and plenty of parking spaces.

Speaking to the source, airport user John Vitale said: "I heard it was supposed to be hectic but it doesn’t seem too bad."

Southwest Florida International Airport serves the Fort Myers area of the state.
