Those heading for a break in French property could find that the country offers them the chance to enjoy a wide range of festive events this year.

The Calvados region has a number of towns and cities ideal for a visit as part of a French property break and Keycamp said that visitors could "take in the sights" of areas such as Deauville and Houlgate.

As well as this, French property owners who enjoy a tipple could head to one of the local distilleries or go to the Caen Christmas Market.

While there, holidaymakers could have some festive fun on the market’s ice rink, before heading back to their French property with their Christmas purchases.

Caen is a historical city located around two hours from Paris and French property owners may also be interested to learn that the city is near to several beaches.

"Founded as the ducal city by William the Conqueror in the 11th Century, Caen has preserved the splendour and radiance endowed upon it by the Ducal King over time," said the city’s tourism website.
