While large numbers of people in the UK have failed to get tickets for the London Olympics later this year, expats in Spain can secure them simply by walking into a high street store.

Reports from Spain reveal there are plenty of tickets to some of the more popular Olympic events still available there – and literally you can buy them on the high street. While the majority of EU countries have chosen to sell their allotted tickets on-line, the Spanish National Olympic Committee decided to sell theirs over the counter through branches of the national music and book chain store FNAC.

It’s believed the country’s tough economic conditions have put many Spaniards off buying tickets in advance, preferring to wait and see if they can afford to go to the event nearer the time. In particular, tickets for gymnastics, volley ball and basketball are still widely available in FNAC shops, which have had them on sale since December 2011. There are 20 FNAC stores across Spain, including in Madrid, Malaga, Marbella, Alicante and Barcelona.
