People investing in France property could be taking the EurostarMore people could be taking the Eurostar in order to visit property in France, following the publication of new research.

More Brits could be taking to the Eurostar on their journey to staying in property in France, if a new study is anything to go by.

Figures by the firm reveal a total of 9.5 million people travelled on the rail line last year, a rise of more than three per cent from the 9.2 million passengers recorded in 2009.

And as an increasing number of people are travelling to the south of France, property in the region could well be more sought-after.

"With the expansion of new routes and services we are witnessing a real renaissance in rail travel," Eurostar chief executive Nicolas Petrovic states, adding that a new fleet of trains set to be introduced this year will help extend the rail company to extend to destinations beyond its main routes of London to Paris and London to Brussels.

People searching for affordable property in France upon taking the Eurostar may want to consider Montpellier. Guillaume Chauvin, spokesperson for Atout France – the France Tourism Development Agency, claimed that the southern city has a young population, due to its three universities.
