Europe has always been a popular tourist destination with British travellers, but those planning on heading to the continent could find that certain times of the year are better than others.

Such a trip could see Brits staying in French property, or property in Italy, with both countries traditionally popular with UK holidaymakers.

According to executive director at AITO Kate Kenward, people may find that taking a trip to Europe at a quieter time of year could make visiting cities and other attractions "a joy".

Taking a trip at a time when fewer tourists are choosing to travel could give Brits the chance to enjoy areas in Europe more and could also see them able to choose from a wider range of Spanish property or French property.

Figures from the Thomson and First Choice Trends Report showed that 80 per cent of Brits said they plan to go on holiday in 2010, despite the ongoing impact of the financial downturn.
