A little online research could ensure that a break in property in Spain, other European destinations or further afield goes smoothly.

Insurer LV= explains that there is advice available online for issues such as whether any vaccinations are needed before heading away to a particular country.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office is one source for such advice, with guidance listed by country and some general tips for travellers or for people moving permanently to a different part of the world.

Emma Holyer, spokesperson for LV=, says: "Not all destinations will require vaccinations, but missing out on them means taking an unnecessary health risk."

She adds that it may be important to check on issues such as vaccinations well in advance of the journey.

This is to allow time to be vaccinated, if necessary, before heading away – a process that can take many months if multiple jabs are to be required.
