A New Year's resolution with a hint of originality could be to cycle to property in France on the heels of elite athletes.
In its list of travel-themed New Year's resolutions, air transport booking site Cheapflights advises would-be competitors that the Tour de France is not only for the professionals.
Anyone who thinks they are up to the challenge can head out along its route – which in 2007 famously began in London – and reach property in France by pedal power.
Of course, there is no need to set so gruelling a pace as those competing for the winner's jersey in each stage of the race.
Rather, Cheapflights suggests that for some people the journey might be more about combining pursuits like photography and gastronomy.
"Test yourself in one of cycling's grand tours and see the beauty of France while you're at it, or appreciate the country's amazing food as you follow the gruelling tour with camera in hand," would-be participants are told.
