Those looking to buy Crete property will be able to find bargains compared to UK prices, it has been stated.

Co-author of The Rough Guide to Greece Nick Edwards said that across the country as a whole, property prices have risen in the time (since 1982) that Greece has been in the European Union, but despite this "you are talking about significantly lower prices compared to Britain".

In terms of the places in the country where people are buying, Crete property is one of the islands on which "an increasing number of Britons" are purchasing, he noted.

Mr Edwards said the Mediterranean climate, the welcoming atmosphere and the positive reception given to anyone who is able to speak some Greek are all positives about island life.

Britons keen to head to the islands to check out the investment and lifestyle prospects will now have another means of doing so.
