New forms of tourism are offering new life in inland parts of Crete, it has been stated.

In a feature on the Vamos mountains area of the Greek island, the Guardian noted that agri-tourism and co-operatives running such ventures through rental Crete property are helping to boost the local economy.

Among the attractions of the area are its local produce and culture, as well as the mountain scenery, which the paper notes is snow-capped from December until May.

The news provider also stated that costs per person per night vary between €65 and €85 (£58-£76).

Those keen on investing in Crete property may consider looking to the interior as an alternative to the traditional tourist modes of the coast.

Another area of Crete hailed recently as a tourist destination is Chania.

Cypriot firm Pafilia Property Developers announced plans last month to invest more in the region, noting that it is attracting a range of new investment, including golf courses, improved infrastructure and a new airport.
