Early check-ins are advised if flying to property in ItalyPassengers flying to property in Italy with easyJet have been told to check in early as the airline aims to clear the backlog of travellers stranded during the recent volcanic activity in Iceland.

The drifting ash cloud from the erupting Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull caused all flights from the UK to be grounded at the beginning of the week amid fears that the dust could block engines.

However, with some air activity resuming, easyJet has issued advice to people planning to travel while the backlog of delayed passengers is still being cleared.

In order to keep things running smoothly, the airline has taken the decision to close its check-in desks one hour before flights depart, rather than the usual 40 minutes.

This means anyone flying to property in Italy on its routes to Milan or Rome should ensure that they arrive at their departure airport in plenty of time.

With volcanic activity hard to predict, however, easyJet is still telling passengers to check that their flight has not been cancelled before they leave for the airport.
