The flagship wine comes from Sanlucar and is celebrated in a fiesta lasting from June 2nd to 6th.

Located adjacent to the mouth of the Guadalquivir, Andalusia’s longest river, the fair draws from its geographic surroundings to boost the sense of occasion.

The region’s tourism authority calls the event "a feast of deep Andalusian tradition" and adds that its name – Fair of the Manzanilla, or Feria de la Manzanilla – highlights the importance of the wine to the proceedings.

But it is not only wine-lovers who might find the fiesta an ideal excuse to head to property in Spain.

Stallholders also serve up seafood and fried fish, making the summer months a great time for gastronomes to spend a week or two in Andalusia.
