The Canary Islands are a "year-round" destination, it has been claimed, which could tempt Brits to invest in Spanish property in the region.

According to Kayte Williams, holidays channel manager at travelsupermarket.com, the islands are "always going to be popular" with holidaying Brits.

She said that the islands "come into their own" during the winter period.

Recent figures from On The Beach showed that there has been an increase in the sale of last minute flight and hotel deals to destinations which can offer Brits a splash of sunshine in the winter months.

As well as this, people are seeking out longer winter sun holiday breaks, with the average stay increasing to nine nights from the seven night average seen last year.

Having a property in Spain could be ideal for those who regularly like to jet off to sunnier climes when the weather starts to get cooler in the UK.
