The Canary Islands are a popular destination for winter visitors to property in Spain, says Glasgow Airport.

Both the Canaries and the mainland of the country are listed as "traditional winter favourites" for people heading to property in Spain for some late-season sun.

They are among the destinations served by the airport, along with exotic long-haul routes and ski holidays, for the coming months.

A new guide has been published, helping potential travellers to learn more about the options open to them from Glasgow Airport.

Meanwhile, Thomas Cook Airlines has extended its service to the Canary Islands from the airport.

From January 2nd 2011, Tenerife will be available as a destination for Thomas Cook flights departing from Glasgow.

Additional Easter services are planned to cope with the increase in customers looking to get away for the celebration.

That includes flights on April 3rd 2011 to Tenerife and Lanzarote, the airline says.
