Each year around 250,000 people emigrate to Canada. Why?

The most popular method of non-citizens gaining residency to Canada is via the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) programme. Until recently the Canadian government had been so inundated with applications that they stopped accepting them.

But fear not – as of July 1, the window has reopened so if you want to join the masses who emigrate there each year, now’s the time to submit your application. Remember to get your application in quick before the quote is filled and the window shuts for yet another year.

The FSW program works on a points system which means that you will need to provide evidence of your education and work experience. Depending on the strength of these factors, a points total will be assigned to you. You will also be assessed on your language skills. The total points you receive determines whether or not you are a skilled worker. This process differs from other countries visa application routes as it is not necessary to have a job offer or a relative to sponsor you.
