Brits have a long-standing love affair with the Sunshine State, which could see more people from the UK heading for a holiday in a property in Florida.

According to tourism organisation VISIT FLORIDA, British holidaymakers feel comfortable with taking a holiday to the state which makes it an attractive place to head to.

President and chief executive of the group Christopher Thompson said that 2010 could be an ideal time for Brits to head to a Florida property for a break, as the new Harry Potter attraction will be opening at Universal Studios.

As well as this, the state is set to be visited by a number of new cruise ships which Mr Thompson said are so big they could be classed as "cities on water".

"We are going to have new cruise ships coming into port in south-east Florida which are actually cities on water. So there is never a lack of expansion of the product and all the mainstays are there so we will definitely catch the attention of the Brits," he said.
