A surge in enquiries for Spanish property has emerged after a bank there launched an offer for cheap, distressed and repossessed property.

Martin Dell of Spanish property investor portal Kyero noted that the day of this announcement not only saw hundreds register interest in the properties with CAM Bank, but also the busiest ever day of traffic on the Kyero website.

Numbers continued to rise through the rest of the week, he added.

He said this was proof that there are still many people keen to buy Spanish property, commenting: "What they’ve been waiting for is a clear demonstration of property being made available at prices significantly below market value."

Last month the marketing director for Spanish Algarve Properties, Robert Shaw, recommended that buyers should look to the Costa la Luz region.

He stated that the area was one of the most unspoilt parts of Andalucia, due to a low level of urbanisation.
