Scottish budget airline Flyglobespan has announced it is launching new services to take tourists to the Canary Islands.

The operator will be commencing flights from Aberdeen Airport to Lanzarote and Gran Canaria in December, enabling more holidaymakers to take a sunshine break on the islands.

Such news may be of interest to those seeking to invest in Canary Islands property for tourist rental purposes.

The announcement by Flyglobespan comes as other evidence emerges of growing tourist numbers heading to the Canaries.

A Spanish research firm has found that the overall number of tourists visiting the Canaries is up by 2.34 per cent on last year, with Gran Canaria seeing a 1.07 per cent rise, Round Town News reports.

Meanwhile, the Bristol Evening Post has stated that local travel agents are experiencingan increase in half-term holiday bookings to overseas destinations, with the Canaries being one of the popular choices and tour operators putting on extra flights in response to the growing demand.
