County Wexford, in the South East corner is just an hour’s flight from London and within two hours’ drive of both Dublin and Cork, making it a hugely popular choice with buyers. An area of outstanding beauty, the county offers the peaceful lifestyle sought after by so many in truly beautiful surroundings. The county is surrounded by ocean, the picturesque Blackstairs Mountains to the north and the River Barrow to the west.

Today the Ireland Buying Guide chats with Brian and Conny Wallace, owners of Brian Wallace Auctioneers, who are based in the beautiful county about why Wexford is such a great spot…

What do you see as the great attraction of Wexford to UK buyers?

It’s an ideal location for buyers from the UK largely because of easy access to the UK, as well as the rest of Ireland. We also have the best weather in the country, so much so that it is dubbed the “the California of Ireland”. The unspoilt coastline and friendly locals are other big attractions.

Which type of property in Wexford currently offers the best value for money?

At the moment, everything! Since 2007, we have seen prices drop by 40-50 per cent across the board.

In your opinion, has Ireland’s property market turned a corner?

Yes, certainly in this area, given the amount of enquiries and sales completed in the past year. And long may it continue!
