Ibiza's underwater world could draw divers to a property in SpainIbiza has been selected as the best European destination for scuba diving by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).

The Balearic island is home to 12 diving centres that are associated with PADI, which could encourage those who enjoy the sport to plan a break to a property in Spain.

One of the reasons that Ibiza received the accolade is the diversity of marine life that can be found in the waters here.

Unesco has named the seabed at Posidonia a World Heritage Site due to the seagrass beds located here, which are an endemic species and support a wide range of other life.

The organisation noted that Ibiza "provides an excellent example of the interaction between the marine and coastal ecosystems".

Among the sites that those staying in a property in Spain can dive are Sa Pedrera, the island of Es Vedranell and the wreck of the Don Pedro, a merchant cargo ship that sank off the isle in 2007.
