Explore Barcelona from a property in SpainAnyone considering a stay in a property in Spain may be keen to discover the cultural and architectural heritage of Barcelona.

Writing for the Telegraph, Lucinda Baring explained that there are many hidden gems in the Catalonian capital.

She suggested that those with an interest in Gaudi visit his two houses, which are situated on Passeig de Gracia – Casa Batllo and La Pedrera.

Although the city's cathedral is renowned as his unfinished masterpiece, Ms Baring commented that these buildings are "perhaps more illuminating".

When it comes to art galleries, her preference is for the CaixaForum – a converted textile factory that now houses contemporary exhibitions such as Teotihuacan City of Gods – which runs from April 1st to June 19th this year and displays artefacts and art from the Mexican settlement.

Meanwhile, another place Ms Baring recommends visiting is the Santa Maria del Mer church. She notes: "The elaborate facade belies a less decorative interior made more glorious by its slightly crumbling and dilapidated air and its magnificent, soaring columns."
