People looking for somewhere off the beaten track to stay in a property in Spain should consider the south-east coast of Almeria, it has been advised.
The Telegraph compiled a list of some of the world's best unspoilt beaches and Playa de Cabo de Gata in the Spanish region was one of the destinations included.
According to the newspaper, much of this part of Almeria "remains relatively neglected by tourists".
It added that people staying in a property in Spain in the region will be able to enjoy exploring the volcanic landscape, noting "many undiscovered beaches lie tucked beneath its craggy cliffs".
Playa de Cabo de Gata in particular is worth a visit as it promises three miles of sand and lies within a protected national park.
As well as spending time on the beach, it is also worth heading a short distance inland where you will discover a saltwater lagoon that provides an important habitat for many birds spending the winter in Spain.
