'Do all your research' before moving to a property in ItalyPeople who are dreaming of moving to a property in Italy need to ensure they do all their research before they make the move, it has been stated.

Stephen Jones from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office stressed that it doesn't matter which country you are moving to, "it's always the same information and advice from the Foreign Office – do your homework before you go".

And Stefano Lucatello, senior partner at The International Law Centre, offered similar guidance to those considering buying property in Italy – or elsewhere in the world.

He stated that "you need to get it right" and make sure everything is covered, particularly in relation to taxation, legal matters and accounting.

This becomes even more important if you intend to return to the UK to live in the future, Mr Lucatello added.

Research released by the Post Office International Payments earlier this month revealed that the most popular reasons to relocate abroad were to have a better quality of life and to retire.
