Enjoy Tenerife carnivals from property in SpainPeople heading off to spend time in property in Spain this week will be able to throw themselves into the Tenerife Carnival celebrations.

Writing for Travelmag, Laura Wilkins highlighted some of the events that happen during the week-long festivities.

Among them are the burial of the fish, a tradition that used to signify the end of the carnival but that now marks its midpoint.

Taking place tomorrow (March 9th), the ritual will see a procession follow a giant papier-mache replica of a sardine through the streets of Santa Cruz to the harbour, where the effigy is set alight and fireworks light up the sky.

Ms Wilkins also recommended taking time to watch the High Heels Marathon, which is organised for March 11th in Puerto del la Cruz.

People staying in property in Spain can enjoy the spectacle of men wearing high-heeled shoes and drag attempting to negotiate the course over cobbled streets, she explained.

Meanwhile, those travelling to Tenerife later in the month may want to visit Arona for the Carnival of Los Cristianos, which takes place between March 14th and 28th.
