A new survey has found that staying in property in Spain remains a popular choice among Brits in the winter.
The research carried out by carhiremarket.com found that 25 per cent of people jetting off abroad during December and January were heading for Spain, with Palma de Majorca emerging as the favourite destination in the country.
Other popular locations for those looking for property in Spain were Malaga and Alicante, the study showed.
Anel Bruns, product manager at the company, noted that the weather may have played a part in some people's holiday decisions.
"As the Met Office warned late last year that December was almost certainly the coldest since records began, many Brits took to the skies and flew off to sunnier climes," the representative stated.
In addition to warm temperatures, visitors to Majorca can look forward to exploring many historic buildings and landmarks in the island's capital – Palma.
The city's 14th-century gothic cathedral and the Almundaina Palace are just two of the sights that travellers may want to explore.
