Property in Australia 'becoming increasingly popular among Brits'The number of Brits planning to emigrate to countries such as Australia and New Zealand is on the rise, it has been noted, with property in Australia particularly popular.

Speaking about emigrating overseas on the FT Money show last week, Tanya Powley, a personal finance reporter, explained that there are a number of reasons why people are attracted to property in Australia.

One of the most common is the lack of a language barrier, which she noted "just makes it easier to set up".

The warm weather is also a draw to Brits, particularly in the UK's winter months, she added.

But Ms Powley pointed out that another factor affecting the decision to emigrate is the jobs market, with the Australian economy currently performing well while unemployment in Britain remains a problem for many people.

In November 2010, Moneycorp published data which showed that the number of vacancies in Australia increased throughout the year.

Demand was particularly strong in the civil engineering and medical sectors, the organisation revealed.
