Sardinia is the ideal destination for families to explore from a property in Italy, it has been noted.
Just Sardinia, a tourism organisation specialising in trips to the island, made such claims and explained that there are many attractions for visitors to enjoy.
Those staying in property in Italy can look forward to more than 1,000 miles of "unspoilt coastline", where visitors will find numerous beaches and coves.
But there are many other places waiting to be discovered away from the coast, with the island renowned for its many historic sites – some of which date back to the prehistoric and protohistoric periods.
Phoenician and Roman ruins have also been found in Tharros and Nora, the official Italian tourism website advises.
Anyone who wants to find out more about some of the sites that have been excavated in Sardinia may want to spend an afternoon at the National Archaeological Museum in Caligari.
