Anyone who wants to head off for a stay in property in Portugal may want to consider visiting the island of Madeira after one journalist highlighted its numerous attractions.
Writing for the Telegraph, Rodney Bolt praised the island for its diverse and varied landscapes.
He noted that people staying in property in Portugal on Madeira will discover mountains, lush valleys, a rugged coastline and dense forests all within close proximity to one another.
Walking is one of the best ways to experience Madeira's natural attractions, Mr Bolt stated, adding that you will find "an astonishing array of plants and flowers" along the way.
Many of the trails for hiking on the island follow the path of the levadas – narrow channels carved out to distribute water.
One location travellers may particularly want to visit is the Laurissilva Forest, which is a Unesco World Heritage site as it is the largest surviving area of primary laurel forest and is home to numerous rare plants and animals.
