Enjoy the carnival on a visit to property in SpainReaders of the Guardian were asked to submit their suggestions for the best carnival celebrations in the world and two Spanish destinations made it into the final list.

People considering staying in property in Spain may want to head to Cadiz at the beginning of March, where they will be able to join in the revelry of the city's carnival.

The newspaper noted that it is one of the oldest of such celebrations in the world, with festivities initially being held to welcome sailors back to the port.

Fancy dress is all part of the fun, so visitors may want to pack a costume as they get ready for their holiday in property in Spain.

Meanwhile, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival was also highlighted. It takes place during the first two weeks of March and features "a carnival queen, Rio-style dancing groups and clowns", the publication noted.

The Spanish Tourism Organisation pointed out that months of preparation go into both carnivals, with floats taking weeks to construct and performers rehearsing to ensure they put on the best possible show.
