The Irish Independent provided some compelling arguments to encourage people to head over to property in Italy this year.
At number one are the celebrations due to take place between March and November to mark 150 years of Italian unity.
The festivities are being held under the banner Esperienza Italia and visitors can look forward to numerous exhibitions – including one in Turin detailing the last 150 years of the country's history – live performances by musicians and sporting events.
If that is not enough to tempt you, the newspaper also noted that there are some great bargains available on Italian property, especially if you can be flexible about when you travel.
Of course, famous monuments are another reason to visit the nation and Rome is the best place to go, the publication added, highlighting the fact that the top tier and underground chambers at the Colosseum are now open to the public for the first time in three decades.
