The number of people heading to property in Spain's largest Canary Island hit record numbers in 2010, according to figures from the Tenerife Tourism Corporation.

During the first 11 months of the year, more than 1.3 million UK tourists arrived at the volcanic island.

On average, they stayed for more than a week, with the typical visit lasting for 7.06 days.

November's visitation figure rose 8.3 per cent year-on-year to 125,895, while over the full 11 months the total was up by 8.6 per cent.
