A Christmassy break may be enjoyed in property in ItalyThe bedecked property in Italy's Puglia towns during the winter months makes for an alternative reason to visit the region, it is suggested.

Stefania Gatta, spokeswoman for the Italian State Tourist Board, admits that Christmastime is relatively cold in the area, compared with the warmer weather seen as late as October.

However, there are plenty of reasons to head to property in Italy for a festive break as an alternative to spending the holiday season at home in the UK.

For instance, touring Puglia can be easier without the summer tourist crowds, allowing art cities like Lecce to be seen in their out-of-season slumber.

"The little towns will also be decked in Christmas decoration and you can expect to eat very well at reasonable prices," says Ms Gatta.

Meanwhile, in October the warmer weather can be "hot and balmy" – and the summers so blazing as to make any substantial activity almost impossible.
