Property in France's ski resort of Val d'Isere offers a chance to recognise Britain's involvement in the sportThe skiing resort of Val d'Isere could have more of a British feel to it this weekend as property in France's winter sports paradise houses international downhill and slalom competitors.

From December 11th, the slopes of the resort play host to contestants in the Skiing World Cup.

And while participants are staying in property in France's world-famous resort, the whole event is being given a peculiarly British flavour.

Tourism organisation Atout France explains that the 55th Criterium de la Premiere Neige is the first to begin a series that recognises the nations that have played significant roles in the history of skiing as a sport.

Atout France adds: "The first of these festivals is dedicated to the Brits, those pioneers of skiing and inveterate competitors!

"To have Britain celebrated first and foremost is a real honour."

While Val d'Isere has earned world renown, the French Government Tourist Office stresses that it retains its old-fashioned elegance and charm.
