Those keen on buying Spanish property connected to golf courses should look at more upmarket venues with good discounts, it has been suggested.

In a feature on such properties, the Daily Mail stated that there has been an oversupply of golf-themed developments, with some places lacking in quality.

However, it noted, some experts believe that those locations where the standards of courses and homes are high will continue to do well.

Managing director of Carrington Estates Paul Rossiter told the paper: "Buyers can easily tell the difference between a decent course and a distinctly average one."

He stated that discounted apartments are still selling at locations such as Marbella Club Golf Resort or nearby Monte Mayor, where the housing is of low density in contrast with some resorts.

David Brice of Gold International recently commented that Spain and Portugal have "carefully developed golf infrastructures that rank alongside the world’s best".
