Property in Spain could rise in popularity as more Britons head abroad in 2011The end of the trend for Britons to take "staycations" could see property in Spain become more popular once again.

Emma O'Boyle, spokeswoman for holiday guidance site TripAdvisor, explains that travellers consistently find property in Spain one of the most attractive options.

With domestic holidays likely to be on the decline in 2011, she suggests that eurozone destinations like Spain and Portugal will see a resurgence in interest.

Meanwhile, holiday hotspots further afield could also grow in popularity, with long-haul journeys back on the agenda.

For those choosing to head outside of Europe – perhaps to the US tourism capital of Florida – Ms O'Boyle has further advice on minimising outlay without having to compromise on the choice of where to spend vacation time.

She recommends checking flight costs to different airports, as transferring from an airfield slightly remote from the final destination could prove cheaper than flying directly into a resort.
