The Pyrenees offers lower prices for French property seekers than the Alps, it has been stated.

A feature in the Daily Telegraph notes that the French tend to concentrate on the Alpine region when it comes to mountains, leaving less demand for properties in the southerly region that borders with Spain and Andorra.

Property owner in the area Cherry Frizzell told the paper: "The French don’t know about the Pyrenees, they think about the mountains as being the Alps."

The Haute Ariege, the area where Mrs Frizzell and her Husband Norman live, is little known to most English buyers as well but offers a variety of outdoor sports, such as rising, canoeing, climbing and cross-country skiing, the publication added.

French property investors may wish to consider the Pyrenees as an alternative to the Alps.

An area of the Pyrenees that is popular with Britons is Lot, according to Marketing lc and communications official for the Midi-Pyrenees Tourist Board Solenne Odon.

She stated last month that Britons like villages in the area such as Rocamadour, St-Cirq Lapopie and the wine-growing town of Cieurac.
