A solo trip to property in Portugal could give adventurous travellers an eye-opening experience.
Tom Hall, travel editor for Lonely Planet, says there are numerous advantages to travelling alone – including being able to make plans and book tickets without having to worry about anybody else.
While abroad, however, he suggests that the 'alone' part of the journey can actually be something of a misnomer.
This is because of the number of people solo holidaymakers meet, unless they have chosen a particularly remote destination.
"You meet more people, you make more friends and you are more open to new experiences because you make that effort," he comments.
Property in Portugal could be the ideal choice for some people as Mr Hall recommends choosing a "well-trodden path", rather than striking out into the unknown alone.
Heading to a well-known area also helps to make sure you encounter plenty of fellow travellers during your break, he adds.
