Property in Portugal can be reached with new easyJet routesLow-cost airline easyJet is expecting to almost double the number of passengers it carries to property in Portugal via its Lisbon base.

With ten new destinations due to be added to its Lisbon route map, the total number of customers arriving at the city is predicted to rise from 1.5 million to 2.5 million each year.

This represents a substantial proportion of its existing passenger base of 3.4 million people who fly to property in Portugal with easyJet each year.

Chief executive Carolyn McCall says: "We are making it easier to visit this beautiful country.

"As one of Europe's most attractive capital cities, Lisbon already attracts 3.6 million tourists and four million business travellers a year."

The destinations that can be reached using the airline's flights include some of Portugal's perennial favourites, easyJet says.

Among them is Sintra, the favourite village of Lord Byron, along with the university community of Coimbra.
