Forward-thinking Britons could choose to head to property in Portugal for a number of short breaks each year, rather than for one extended vacation.
Peter Crane, head of product strategy at adventure holiday operator Explore, notes that numerous short breaks seem to be gaining favour with British travellers.
"It is a trend we've picked up on," he says, adding that holidaymakers "want to go to a place and get the most out of it in as little time as possible".
He adds that Europe is one area where all kinds of different activities are open to travellers looking to take an adventure break – and that, for many, the desire is to visit numerous parts of a country rather than a single resort.
Property in Portugal could be the perfect base point for this kind of break, with the country's coastal railroad a simple way to get around.
