Property in France can be reached by rail in civility and comfortReaching property in France can be more comfortable and more civilised if you go by train, according to the French Travel Service.

Managing director Bill Smallwood explains that reaching property in France‘s more distant areas – such as the south of the country – is not as difficult as it once was.

The reasons why include the ability to cross the Channel using the Eurostar and continue on the Train a Grande Vitesse (TGV) high-speed rail link.

"Eurostar and TGV have revolutionised the short-haul market," says Mr Smallwood.

He also points out the realistic journey times that rail travel involves, rather than the lengthier travelling arrangements associated with flying.

Rail travel typically does not require passengers to check in two hours before their allotted departure time, he notes.

On arrival, it is also more likely that a station will be found in the desired resort than an airport, he concludes.
