Stefan Laude, press agent for Megeve Tourisme, explains that the town was originally created not for skiing and other winter pursuits, but because of its advantages during the summer.

"It was the first touristic destination in the summer because of the sights," he says. "It is inside a valley so you can walk on both sides and you will see one of the faces of the Mont Blanc."

The village was also founded in its particular location due to the local water, with a lake and a swimming pool among its aquatic attractions.
