Set out from property in France's south and take in the peaks and valleysProperty in France‘s southernmost mountain range, the Pyrenees, could be the perfect place from which to explore the country’s border with Spain.

The French Government Tourist Office suggests exploring both the valleys and the mountains’ peaks, from the Basque Country to the Cerdagne.

On the French side of the border, Pic de Vignemale is the highest point in the range, towering 3,298 m above sea level.

Meanwhile, property in France‘s southern action resorts of Saint-Lary, Cauterets, Font Romeu and La Mongie could be perfect for sports-lovers.

"The Pic du Midi, 2,577 m high, offers an incredible panorama over the Pyrenees mountains and the Pays de Bigorre," the tourism authority adds.

"On its peak is a science observatory which is open to the public."

As well as winter sports, the Pyrenees’ own website notes the mountains’ use for hiking – and adds that there is surely no more obvious way to reach the slopes than on foot.
