Property in France offers the chance to learn a new martial art this summerProperty in France‘s ski resort of Val d’Isere is not just a winter destination, as there are activities in the area throughout the summer months.

Even when the sun is shining and snowy pursuits are out of the question, sport-lovers can still find something to occupy their time.

At the Lotus Mountain Massif de la Vanoise this year, there is the opportunity to try out some martial arts.

While one course is only open to adults, those heading to property in France with children in tow might be glad to hear that a second training programme caters for under-18s.

The latter of the two is the Aikido course running at the end of July under the watchful eye of Jacques Bonemaison, technical director of the French Federation Aikido.

France has the best-established Aikido culture in the world, according to the Federation Francaise d’Aikido, Aikibudo et Affinitaires, with the martial art first demonstrated there in 1951.

Alternatively, earlier in July, over-18s can try their hand at Shugendo, which combines serene meditation with the techniques of throwing blades.
