The event sees teams of between 18 and 20 men race three wooden statues representing the city’s three saints – San Ubaldo, San Giorgio and San Antonio – through the streets to the cathedral that sits atop Monte Ingino, What’s On When stated.

It added that the origins of the ritual are "shrouded in mystery", with some claiming that it was inspired by San Ubaldo Baldassimi, a bishop who passed away in 1160, while others argue that it is a celebration of the Roman goddess of the harvest Ceres that has since been appropriated by the church.
