Property in Spain could be reached faster in futureThe proposed single European sky initiative could make it easier to reach property in Spain via more direct routes.

Giovanni Bisignani, director general and chief executive officer of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), claims that indirect routes taken due to the existing arrangements between different countries create 16 million tonnes of carbon emissions.

However, adopting a single European sky with more direct routes through different countries’ air space could help to improve this, as well as making property in Spain and beyond easier and faster to reach.

"We have been discussing the single European sky for decades," he says. "It was a priority of the European Commission as far back as the early 1990s."

Figures from the IATA predict that between 2008 and 2020, air traffic is likely to rise by around half in terms of the numbers of flights taking place.

With a revised air traffic system, efficiency can be improved and delays to passengers reduced, the organisation claims.
