Property in Spain might not seem like the obvious base for anyone with an interest in Egyptian history, but Alicante is hosting an exhibition this year that could combine the best of the two regions.

For Egyptologists – professional or amateur – Egyptian Objects in Alicante, at the MARQ Provincial Archaeological Museum, admires "the greatness of its pyramids, temples and tombs".

Closed on Mondays, but open from 10:00 local time every other day from March 26th until October 17th, the event features around 30 exhibits, all of which have been drawn together from around Alicante.

Alicante is itself an area shrouded in history, with some of the oldest property in Spain including the first township to be founded in Alicante, Tossal de Manises, which started in the 4th century BC.

Remnants of dwellings dating back to the third millennium BC indicate a human presence long before the first towns were created in the region.
