Golfing enthusiasts might want to get into the swing of things in Madeira by moving to property in Portugal‘s golfing region.

In April, Madeira is due to host the Madeira Island Open 2010, giving golfers the opportunity to scope out the area’s fairways and decide whether its courses are suited to their needs.

Madeira Islands Tourism suggests that the tournament should be a triumph as "the conditions at Porto Santo Golf Course have never been better, which will certainly contribute towards the success of this event".

After the first two days of competition on April 8th and 9th, the top 70 players make the cut and compete on until April 11th for victory.

However, the region’s golfing culture does not end there, as the award-winning brochure Golf in the Madeira Islands, from the Madeira Promotion Association, notes.

The brochure, which could help anyone relocating to property in Portugal to find a golf course to suit their ability at the sport, was named best catalogue at the Austrian Tourism Institute’s Werbe Grand Prix ceremony.
