The French Riviera property scene may be in for a boost in 2009 after it was stated that 2009 is set to be a big year for the sea cruise sector.

Speaking as it was announced that Cannes will host the industry’s Seatrade Med exhibition in 2010, French Riviera Cruise Club president Alain Gumiel said: "Already 2009 will be an exciting year for cruise business, [with] two new opening destinations with the Ports of Golfe Juan and Antibes."

The increase in tourism that such cruises could bring may help bolster the buy-to-let sector in the region, making it a good time to buy French Riviera property.

Another tourism boost may come with the announcement by Easyjet last week that it is to commence a new service to Nice from East Midlands Airport.

Described as a "fantastic addition" to the services the airline runs from the airport by Easyjet’s commercial manager Carly Brear, the flights will start in April 2009.
