People from the UK looking for property in Portugal are being swayed by the Algarve’s year-round sun and heading to the "Golden Triangle", according to the Daily Mail.

The long-established tourism industry in central Algarve has overtaken the well-advertised newcomers in the Silver and Blue Coasts around Lisbon to become the first choice for Brits looking for property in Portugal.

Holiday homes in the so-called Golden Triangle have lost none of their desirability and seem relatively unaffected by the fall in house prices.

"On the Algarve, the Golden Triangle is on everyone’s wish list – if they can afford it," said Georgina Richards of Knight Frank.

The area is home to some of the best golf courses in Europe and also some of the continent’s biggest celebrities, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Owen and Ronan Keating.

There are over 45 golf courses in the Algarve and many professionals flock to the region year after year.
