Smog in Lazio is to be monitoredAnyone looking for property in Italy could be set to benefit from an improved weather forecast model and a web portal that makes it possible to monitor smog levels in the air.

The new technology allows predictions for the high risk levels of smog following 24, 48 and 72 hours.

If the levels become too high or the limits set out by the European Union are about to be reached, the corresponding municipalities are notified and can begin to take action.

The weather forecast model and the portal have been presented by the environmental assessor Filiberto Zaratti and the Lazio Regional Agency for Environmental Protection extraordinary commissioner, Corrado Carrubba.

Lazio has a population of nearly 5.2 million, constituting nearly ten per cent of the total Italian population so it could be an ideal location for anyone looking to move to a busy urban region.

The UK government passed its first Clean Air Act in 1956, which was designed to control domestic sources of smoke pollution by introducing smokeless zones.
