Many Brits dream of owning a vineyard While many Britons dream of owning a property in France, in particular a vineyard, few have made that dream a reality.

The Telegraph talks to a couple who have taken the plunge and set about changing their lifestyle.

For Caroline and Sean Feely, becoming winemakers in Bergerac has made the decision to purchase property in France a worthwhile investment.

Although the money they now earn cannot compete with their income as investors and computer software professionals, the couple are satisfied with their "modest living".

Now producing 20,000 bottles of wine a year, the Feelys relocated to south-west France five years ago and found a 25-acre property in the village of Saussignac.

"We jumped in at the deep end from day one, doing everything ourselves, with specialists to advise, but it was tough," Caroline said.

She added that anyone looking to follow suit should make sure they have enough money to cover two years of operating costs.

Movie star Johnny Depp spoke of his love for the south of France in his recent appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
